Between Seasons

I can really feel summer slowly coming to an end.

There is something so fascinating about the way the seasons change right on time.

It makes me think about the quiet wonder of nature, and how some things just move in their own natural way, whether we are ready or not.

The summer sun that felt so intense not long ago already seems a little gentler.

A slight chill hangs in the afternoon air now.

The light arrives a little later, and the evenings seem to get dark much earlier than they did just a few weeks ago. And the long summer break is almost over.

Emails from school have started arriving with schedules and updates for the new school year.

I wonder what kind of busyness life with two high schoolers will bring me this fall.

Part of me is a little nervous.

Part of me is looking forward to it.

I have never been very good at multitasking. It is hard for me to focus when too many things are happening at once, and whenever something changes, it takes me quite a while to adjust.

Because of that, I often need to be more intentional about staying focused.

Maybe this will always be one of those things I keep working on.

I thought I had accepted it by now, but I still have not quite figured out the right system for myself.

So sometimes I still end up a little scattered, rushing around, and making a mess of things.

But then again…….

Well… this is me.

I’ll just keep doing it anyway.
